OMG Digital To Oversee $2B in Digital Media Spending

July 19, 2007

Yesterday was a tipping point in digital advertising. Sean Finegan was appointed the new CEO of the OMG Digital, the online arm of the largest advertising agency holding company, Omnicom Media Group. OMG Digital will oversee $2 billion in digital media spending. “We recognize the implications of digital technology go far beyond the internet,” Sean Finnegan emailed WebNewser. “This initiative will begin with Web-based media and evolve to other channels as they expand and migrate to a digital platform.”

OMG Digital is currently developing proprietary intelligence from their online campaigns. “As advertising becomes more accountable and more about a dialog with consumers, this informed tracking of consumer interaction with digital marketing is required in order to better accomplish our clients’ goals.”

There were a lot of announcements this week within the digital media and advertising industry nexus. The Audit Bureau of Circulation announced earlier this week plans to start measuring in November online readership in addition to “offline” newspaper readership. The move is seen as a boon to newspapers, which have been losing ad dollars to the internet.

OMG Digital’s Sean Finnegan will be reporting to Daryl Simm, Chairman and CEO of Omnicom Media Group. “This is a reflection of the continued growth of the overall digital platform,” he explained.
